قانون الإيمان النيقاوي الأويغوري القديم في تورفان

غطت كنيسة المشرق في أوجها مساحة جغرافية أكبر من أي كنيسة أخرى قبل عصر الاستكشاف، عندما انتشرت الكاثوليكية في الأمريكيتَين. وقد نجحت بشكل خاص في التوسع شرقاً من الإمبراطورية الفارسية (ولاحقاً الخلافة الإسلامية) على طول طريق الحرير إلى آسيا الوسطى والصين، حيث واجهت أناساً يتحدثون لغاتاً لا علاقة لها بالسريانية على الإطلاق (معظمها إيرانية أو تركية). وقد استلزم هذا ترجمة النصوص الكتابية وغيرها من النصوص المسيحية من السريانية إلى اللغات الأم لأولئك الذين خدمتهم الكنيسة. ومن الأماكن القليلة التي توسعت فيها الكنيسة على طول طريق الحرير حيث لدينا أدلة نصية أصلية على هذا الوجود المسيحي (على عكس مجرد شهادة الغرباء) تورفان في شمال غرب الصين. وقد وجد المستكشفون الألمان (أو بالأحرى الپروسيون) في أوائل القرن العشرين عدداً هائلاً من بقايا المخطوطات، معظمها بوذية ومانوية، في واحة تورفان. ومن بين آلاف البقايا من المخطوطات التي تم العثور عليها كان هناك حوالي ١١٠٠ قطعة من مخطوطات مسيحية. وقد فُهرست جميع هذه المخطوطات، باللغات السريانية، والصغدية (لغة إيرانية وسطى)، والأويغورية القديمة (لغة تركية)، والفارسية الحديثة، والفارسية الوسطى. ومن المثير للاهتمام أن لدينا ترجمتَين لقانون الإيمان النيقاوي، إحداهما إلى الصغدية والأخرى إلى الأويغورية القديمة. سيتناول هذا العرض الترجمة الأويغورية القديمة لقانون الإيمان، ويناقش ما يمكن أن تكشفه لنا عن المجتمع المسيحي في تورفان.
